Who founded the IC Programmes for Learning?
The IC PfLs are the brainchild of experienced teacher and educational author, Andrew Hammond. The structure, concepts and philosophy underpinning it reflect Andrew's vision to move beyond a knowledge-based syllabus to offer schools a programme for learning which matches Knowledge Strands against cross-curricular Learning Skills, with the ultimate goals being the Qualities for Life which bring happiness and fulfilment in adulthood.
Andrew Hammond holds a BA (Hons) QTS and an MA in Creativity in Education. He has taught in prep schools for many years, serving as a Deputy Head, Director of Studies, Housemaster, Head of English and Drama and Y5 Class-teacher. He has served as an IAPS English Subject Leader and an ISEB English Setter for CE, and is the author of the English PfLs. Andrew has published over forty educational titles for several publishers, including Galore Park, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Hodder, Heinemann, Rising Stars, Sage, and was recently commissioned by Headline to write a five-book horror fiction series for teenagers. Andrew is currently headmaster of Daneshill Preparatory School, and lives in Sussex with his wife and four children.
