Why should my school use the IC Programmes for Learning? The IC PfLs will provide your school with a structured programme of study from Years 3-9 across all subject areas. They have been designed by independent school teachers for independent school teachers so recognise the customs, values and common practices in prep and junior schools today as well as covering the requirements of the National Curriculum, Primary Framework, QCA Schemes of Work and the ISEB Syllabus. Space has therefore been left for the creative, inspiring learning experience which lies at the heart of an independent school education.
Andrew Hammond, founder of the IC PfLs, strongly feels that it is time for a curriculum which prepares the children for life in the modern world. Through its unique design, the IC PfLs juxtapose Knowledge Strands with cross-curricular Learning Skills and Qualities for Life, thus facilitating opportunities for the children to discover, apply and communicate what they have learned at every step. The PfLs are more than lists of content to be memorised; they are schemes of work that promote active engagement, creativity and independent learning in the classroom, preparing pupils for the demands of the modern workplace and the challenges that they will face in later life.
